Coast Packing Co. to Mark #NationalBeefTallowDay with First-Ever #BeefTallowFrenchFries ‘Tweet-to-Win’ Contest
As Coast Packing Company has been saying for generations, everyone loves beef tallow French fries. Back inthe day, beef fat fries were what made a certain major burger chain famous.
Now, in recognition of #NationalBeefTallowDay, taking place on #FRYdayThe13th, consumers can tweet theirlove for French fries fried in beef tallow far and wide.
Coast Packing is hungry for the public’s most poetic/ecstatic/witty/tasty tweets proclaiming their desire for beef tallow French fries as Coast rolls out the first-ever #BeefTallowFrenchFries “Tweet-to-Win” Contest. It’s an opportunity for participants to take home some serious bling (nothing less than a hand-crafted, life-size, 22ct gold-plated sterling silver French fry ring from GoldieRox.com) while celebrating the first annual #NationalBeefTallowDay which, not so coincidentally, also happens to be #NationalFrenchFryDay. The contestkicks off on July 5th.
#NationalBeefTallowDay will extend well beyond Twitter, as Coast teams up with San Diego’s Tasti Burger®, a fixture since 1974 on the Southern California fair circuit, to “Taste the Difference” at this year’s Orange County Fair (which, coincidentally, opens on July 13 and runs through August 12). Tasti Burger, family-ownedfor 44 years, offers the only fresh made-to-order burgers on the Fairgrounds.
On the culinary stage at the Fair in the OC Promenade, attendees will be asked to “Free Your Inner Farmer” (the theme of this year’s fair) as they sample French fries prepared with beef tallow and peanut oil, and – guided in the art of sensory evaluation by Coast Packing Corporate Chef Ernie Miller and Tasti Burger’s Lori Southerlend — explore the delights, nuances and flavor profiles of each. Tasters are encouraged to post theirphotos and images to social media (including https://www.instagram.com/coastpackingco/).
An initiative of The Healthy Fats Coalition, #NationalBeefTallowDay is a celebration of a traditional healthy animal fat – pure beef tallow shortening – that is now enjoying a resurgence within America’s food culture, inrestaurants, fast food operations and home kitchens.
“For consumers, the message of our ‘Tweet-to-Win’ contest is, ‘capture the deliciousness in 280 characters and you may take home the bling,’” Chef Miller said. “Artificial trans fats are out, and minimally processed animal fats like beef tallow – which makes superior French fries and is ideal for a host of other cooking and fryingapplications– are making a comeback, big-time.”
“In terms of freshness, flavor and texture, there really is no comparison to beef tallow French fries, which is exactly why we’re so delighted when consumers can taste for themselves, as they will at the OC Fair,” said Eric R. Gustafson, Coast Packing CEO. “Toward that end, we at Coast Packing are continuing our efforts to demonstrate that healthy animal fats like tallow are tasty, traditional and amazingly palate-pleasing.”Share
