Greg Longstreet

Greg Longstreet brings more than 34 years of food industry experience to his role as President of Coast Packing Company. An accomplished President, CEO, and Board Member, he specializes in driving strategic growth, profitability, innovation, and transformation, with a strong track record in market expansion, governance, and the integration of both publicly traded and private family businesses.

Longstreet became President of Coast Packing Company in March 2026, working alongside fourth-generation Chairman and CEO Eric R. Gustafson. A member of the Advisory Board since 2016, he has supported Coast’s growth and transformation and previously worked with both Eric and third-generation leader Ron Gustafson through leadership roles with the City of Vernon and the National Meat Association (now the Meat Institute), including as President & CEO of Farmer John Foods (2007–2014).

Most recently, Longstreet served as President and CEO of Del Monte Foods (2017–2026), a leading packaged foods company with $1.8 billion in annual sales and 4,000 employees. During his tenure, he set strategic priorities, recruited top talent, streamlined operations through a leaner model, and expanded the company’s product portfolio and distribution.

Before Del Monte, Longstreet served as President and CEO of CytoSport, Inc. (2014–2017), a global sports nutrition company best known for its Muscle Milk brand. Following its acquisition by Hormel Foods, he led integration as the company’s first non-family CEO, reduced costs through outsourced manufacturing, and drove growth through product innovation and expanded distribution, including a key partnership with Pepsi.

Longstreet served as President and CEO of Farmer John Foods (2007–2014), a Southern California icon best known as the maker of the World Famous Dodger Dog®. Founded in 1931 and acquired by Hormel Foods in 2007, the company was deeply rooted in the community. He led its integration into Hormel, optimized the supply chain, expanded market reach, and oversaw the 2011 merger with Saag’s Specialty Meats. He began his career in brand, commercial, and strategy roles at Hormel Foods and later held senior leadership roles at Dole Food Company, including Vice President positions across retail, foodservice, and business development, where he led international acquisition integrations across multiple markets.

Longstreet has served on the boards of the National Meat Association (now the Meat Institute), the Grocery Manufacturers Association, the Consumer Brands Association, and the Food Marketing Institute. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University’s Eli Broad College of Business, where he was a four-year varsity athlete, and completed the Food Industry Management Program at the University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business.

Greg enjoys spending time with his wife of 30 years and their two adult children who also live in the Los Angeles area.
