Production Supervisor 

Job Title: Production Supervisor 

Department: Plant-wide

Reports To: VP of Operations

Status: Exempt

Schedule: 1:00pm-9:00pm

Salary: $80,000-$85,000 annually D.O.E.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Production Supervisor is responsible for directly overseeing and supervising the production floor employees and floor activities. The supervisor ensures proper flow of the assigned processes inclusive but not limited to Sanitation, Rendering, Refining / Deodorizing, Packaging, Shipping, Tank Farm, Inedible, Traffic Control and its employees along with general plant leadership. 

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Active and contributing member of Safety Circle Team, taking action to ensure a safe work environment and works to maintain the safety of all employees. Distributes Personal Protective Equipment to staff and verifies training and behavior of employees. 
  • Own successful planning, prioritizing, supervising, to drive business targeted results. 
  • Establish and refine organizational responsibilities and processes to ensure successful operation of the facility inclusive of responding to issues with a sense of urgency. 
  • Provide vision for the team for the purposes of building and maintaining a High Performance, Team Based, Results Oriented Organization, aligned with the Corporate Vision and Strategy. 
  • Collaborate with all cross functional areas. 
  • Prior to start-up and shutdown, verify pre and post operational standards are complete. (e.g., Sanitation Standard Operating Procedure (SSOP) and Good Manufacturing Practices) Modifying processes as needed to guarantee ongoing success. 
  • Oversees equipment functionality in all processes using Lean Manufacturing strategies. (e.g., temperature levels and assist with troubleshooting activities) 
  • Inspect production documents for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established requirements. 
  • Lead meetings, presenting information on operational metrics to drive performance and inspire change.
  • Investigate problem areas and review possible solutions; allocate resources accordingly, inclusive of root cause analysis, timely completion of reports and closing of action items.   
  • Manage work requests and communicate solutions or instructions to the appropriate personnel. 
  • Coordinate laboratory sampling and analysis and ensure plant compliance with Corporate, State and Federal agencies. 
  • Hold team members and self-accountable to standards, policies, procedures, and expectations. 
  • Ensure adequate inventory of process materials. 
  • Recommend and assist in the implementation of operational goals and objectives; implement changes to improve safety, quality, efficiency and reduce operational costs. 
  • Participate in the selection and development of plant operation staff; identify and coordinate staff training; motivate and inspire employees by building and using company values and culture; work with employees to increase performance while being mindful of work/life balance; conduct effective and consistent performance management through impromptu feedback, coaching, and formal annual performances reviews.  
  • Review and control pest controls as needed. 
  • Understand and provide metrics associated with department success, to leadership. 
  • Other duties and projects as assigned or needed by company leadership.
  • Required to perform job duties on-site.

Education and Experience

Any combination of education and experience likely to provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, typically:
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred, High School Diploma or GED required.
• 3-5 years related experience in retail or bulk manufacturing
• Lean / Six Sigma experience a plus
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
