Packaging Operator 

Job Title: Packaging Operator 

Department: Packaging

Reports To: Production Supervisor

Status: Non-Exempt

Schedule: 12:00pm-10:30pm

Salary- $20-24/ hour D.O.E


The Packaging Operator is responsible for operating, tending, troubleshooting, and general preventive maintenance of machines used to package food products for storage and shipment.


  • Responsible for ensuring team adheres to safety and quality expectations. 
  • Review machine, equipment, maintenance orders, and sanitation reports to ensure machine and equipment are functional and ready for use. 
  • Clean, oil, set-up, and make minor adjustments or repairs to machinery and equipment. 
  • Verify product to confirm production standardized settings and product quality are met. 
  • Communicate with Tank Farm Operator to receive oils once receiving guidelines are met; validate votator machines are on and oil is being circulated. 
  • Regulate machine flow, pressure, speed, or temperature; adjust values and lines accordingly to produce final product. 
  • Ensure quality and conformity of filled products meet production standards.
  • Document failures and provide corrective actions as needed. 
  • Monitor the production line and equipment (box erectors, filling machines, box closers, metal detectors, labelers/lot coders, palletizers), watch for problems such as jams, pileups, and improper machine functionality. 
  • Supply packaging materials such as boxes, stretch wrap and other packaging materials to ensure smooth packing operations. 
  • Count and record finished and rejected packaged items and properly put into inventory system. 
  • Inspect and remove defective products and packaging material. 
  • After production guidelines are met, return unused oil back into Tank Farm; ensure proper procedures are followed. 
  • Ability to wear proper PPE (bump cap, ear plugs, safety glasses, hair/beard nets, steel boots, gloves, etc). Always be mindful of and adhere to GMP, Quality and Food Safety requirements. 
  • Train other employees in the use and operation of equipment. 
  • Use of electric pallet jacks and powered lift vehicles to move packaged product. 
  • Understand and provide metrics, associated with department success, to leadership. 
  • Other duties and projects as assigned or needed by company leadership
  • Required to perform job duties on-site

Education and Experience


Any combination of education and experience likely to provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, typically:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 0-6 months combination of education and experience.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
