SALARY RANGE: $21-$22/ hour D.O.E.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Edible Rendering Operator is responsible for tending equipment used to render and process animal source material including animal fat trimming.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Completes inspection of equipment to determine if sanitation is adequate to begin rendering process.
- Assembles rendering equipment including expellers, grinders, pumps, pipes, blades, cooking tanks.
- Tests equipment to determine proper functioning.
- Check tank availability/levels and manipulate valves to set the tank to be used.
- Remove product from tempering cooler, using powered lift vehicle(s), and securing product into the dumper.
- Log information on product such as lot number, weight, source company, start time.
- Opens valves and starts pumps and conveyors to move materials through rendering process.
- Monitors temperature gauges, rate of flow, and condition of materials passing through cookers, expellers, and grinders; adjusts valves and rate of flow.
- Label containers properly.
- Execute basic preventative maintenance including disassembly of centrifuges for the purposes of replacing gaskets, o-rings, and checking oil in gearboxes.
- Contacts maintenance mechanics for troubleshooting equipment malfunctions.
- Execute sanitation schedule.
- Operate powered lift vehicles and hand trucks to move raw material combo bins.
- Other duties and projects as assigned.

Any combination of education and experience likely to provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, typically:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 1-3 years of experience in a related field.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
- Self-motivated and able to work well in a fast-paced environment.
- Able to maintain regular and consistent attendance.
- Effective verbal communication.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one conversations with other employees in the organization.
- Ability to operate powered lift vehicles; obtain & maintain powered lift vehicles certification.
- Able to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to use common sense to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.
