12th Annual Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center NMRA/NMCA All-Star Nationals — Friday Coverage

Today’s 12th Annual Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center All-Star Nationals program kicked off early, with racers hitting the track at 7:30 a.m. to allow for those who paid for Thursday’s delayed test ’n tune to complete their hits before Friday’s regular program kicked off. Today will see two rounds of qualifying in the heads-up and index classes, while competitors in the Chevrolet Performance Street Car Challenge, Dodge // Mopar Hemi Shootout, True Street classes enjoy time trial runs. The competition is heating up at Atlanta Dragway as racer plot a course toward the Aerospace Component’s Winner’s Circle.

With veteran driver Jason Lee behind the wheel, Coast Packing Company’s ’69 Noonan Hemi ProCharger Pro Mod Camaro was back in action last weekend, May 16-17, for Wooostock in Darlington, S.C. – a test run ahead of PDRA’s East Coast Nationals on May 29-30 at GALOT Motorsports Park in Benson, N.C. The weekend event will see the return of Coast CEO Eric R. “Goose” Gustafson, two months after his stunning win in Bradenton, Fla. – but it won’t include the usual legion of fans.  As states begin to loosen restrictions set in place to control the spread of COVID-19, the Professional Drag Racers Association is preparing to start its 2020 season, nearly two months later than planned.

The NMCA’s Muscle Car Mayhem Lives Up To Its Name In Bradenton

If you’re going to kick off the start to a race season in style, it would be accurate to say that the NMCA gave Buzz Lightyear a run for his money at its 2020 season opener in Bradenton, Florida. Records were broken thanks in part to great weather and a dedicated track crew that maintained a consistent racing surface over massive swings in conditions. The stands were packed for qualifying and eliminations, and the safety team and staff displayed unrivaled professionalism in response to multiple on-track incidents. Muscle Car Mayhem at Bradenton Motorsports Park was an intense beginning to the NMCA’s 2020 season.
