Logistics Coordinator

TITLE: Logistics Coordinator                                       

SUPERVISED BY: Vice President of Operations

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt                                       

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Logistic Coordinator is responsible for managing all aspects of shipping routes and on time, cost effective delivery, specifically focused at customer satisfaction for multi-site activities.  This role will also support Customer Service and production activities as needed. 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Regularly evaluate the performance, quality, and pricing of freight vendors to employ the best freight companies.
  • Liaise and negotiate transport of goods with shipping or freight companies.
  • Prepare and research competitive rate trends to be able to negotiate cost-effective rates.
  • Estimate freight and record shipment costs and weights.
  • Determine method of shipment and other shipping documents.
  • Ensure vendor compliance on all safety, GMPs and BRC/QA policies and SOPs.
  • Manage and maintains proper documentation involved with freight quotes and rates.
  • Track delivery progress of shipments.
  • Notify consignees, customers of arrival and arrange for delivery.
  • Contact vendors or claims adjustment departments to resolve shipment problems or contact service depots to arrange for repairs.
  • Review vendor invoice accuracy and establish an audit process.
  • Continually improves and develops business performance within the constraints of legislation, fuel costs, and environmental pressures. 
  • Provide analysis of cost to move or redirect product between sites.
  • Support international distribution needs.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

Education and Experience

Any combination of education and experience likely to provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, typically:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, analytics, math, statistics, or related field
  • 3-5 years related experience and/or training in freight/logistics in a manufacturing
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
